The staff of Worcester Hair Removal is certified in laser and licensed and registered in electrolysis.  Licensure for electrolysis in Massachusetts includes 1100 education hours and the passing of two State Board Examinations.  In order to qualify for license renewal, Continuing Education is required every two years.

  5. Is electrolysis a permanent solution?
  6. Yes, electrolysis is defined by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) as being an effective method of hair removal.  Please note that physiological changes, such as age, shifts in hormones, or medication can potentially cause additional hair growth, however hair that has been treated won’t grow back.

  7. Is electrolysis painful?
  8. When the needle probe is inserted into the hair follicle, you will feel a quick pinch similar to plucking or tweezing.  Some parts of the face and body are more sensitive.  For example, the upper lip is more sensitive than the eyebrows.  Everyone has a different pain tolerance. Topical anesthetics are available for more sensitive areas.

  9. How long will my electrolysis appointment last?
  10. An appointment for the eyebrows might last 15 minutes.  An appointment for the arms would last longer.  Your appointment time is dependent on the size of the area to be treated.  During your initial consultation, you will be provided with estimated timeframes for treatment.

  11. Is electrolysis a sterile procedure?
  12. Prior to your appointment, all equipment is sterilized.  A new pre-packaged, sterilized needle probe will be used at every visit.

  13. Is there any preparation required for laser hair treatment?
  14. You should avoid the sun before and after your visit to maximize treatment benefits.   You should not tweeze, wax, bleach or irritate your skin 24 hours prior to the appointment.  It’s ok to shave or trim your hair.

  15. Is laser treatment painful?
  16. The laser pulse feels much like a rubber band snapping on the skin.  The continual cooling system on the Cynosure Elite is designed to maximize your comfort.  Most clients don’t seem to mind it; however some clients apply a topical pain numbing cream prior to the appointment and feel no discomfort during the appointment. 

  17. Is laser hair removal permanent?
  18. Laser hair removal is defined as a hair reduction process.  It may take several appointments for the hair to be removed.

  19. How long will my laser appointment last?
  20. Your appointment length is dependent on the size of the area being treated.  Full legs might take close to two hours.  A session for the underarms may take 15 minutes.
